SWCSD Board of Education April 8 statement

At the April 8, 2024 meeting of the South-Western City School District (SWCSD) Board of Education the Board issued the following statement of apology.

"The Board of Education would like to take a moment to address a recent post on the South-Western City Schools website and all social media platforms on Friday, April 5th, 2024 which may have caused offense due to the select verbiage that was used.  We deeply regret any discomfort or confusion this may have caused.  It was never our intention to assign blame for the closure of schools on Monday, April 8th to any specific department.  We understand that the wording used may have appeared divisive, and for that, we sincerely & directly apologize to the Transportation Department.  We know the transportation department is a vital department for South-Western City Schools.  The decision to close schools today was due to an accumulation of anticipated staff absences across the entire district in more than 1 department.  Please know that we value the unity and inclusivity of our community and we are committed to fostering an environment where every member feels respected and heard.  Once again, we extend our heartfelt apologies for any distress caused.  Thank You for your understanding and continued support as we strive to serve the best interest of our district."
