The South-Western City School District (SWCSD) Board of Education has identified five candidates at a special meeting of the Board of Education on May 22 who will be invited for first-round interviews for the district’s open superintendent position.

Read more: The vacancy came about as the result of the March 11 announcement that the district’s current superintendent Dr. Bill Wise planned to step down from the position at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year.

The SWCSD Board of Education is slated to interview the following candidates following the close of the posting’s application window this past Friday, May 17, 2024.

  • Mr. Randy Banks, Assistant Superintendent - Worthington City Schools

  • Dr. Todd Hoadley, Superintendent - Tolles Career and Technical Center

  • Dr. Jamie Lusher, Deputy Superintendent - South-Western City Schools

  • Mr. Chris Papouras, Superintendent - Euclid City Schools

  • Dr. Walter Skaggs, Superintendent - St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools

In taking into account the needs of all stakeholders in the District, the SWCSD Board of Education has spent much time evaluating each applicant based on the merits of their experience, leadership acumen, and, most importantly, based on valued input from our community.

“We were incredibly impressed by both the quality of leadership and experiences of applicants who made their candidacy known to us through the submission of their application for the superintendent position,” said Chris Boso, board president. “On behalf of the Board, we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all candidates who submitted an application to us and for their interest in investing their time, talents, and energy into our students, schools, and community. In the weeks to come, we are excited to get to know interviewees on a more personal level and to hear how they plan to help generations of students succeed and reach their post-secondary dreams under their proposed leadership plans.”

First-round interviews for candidates are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 28 and Wednesday, May 29 in executive session with the Board of Education. Following those interviews, the Board will then evaluate candidates further and extend second-round interviews to finalists scheduled for Monday, June 3 and Tuesday, June 4.
