On Monday, September 12, 2022 at a regular meeting of the South-Western City School District Board of Education, the board voted to approve an amendment to the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar.
District families, staff, and community members will note in the revised calendar that the only change involves the dates of October 14 and October 21. Previously, Friday, October 14 was a Professional Development Day (school not in session for students) and Friday, October 21 was an in-session learning day. The amended calendar reflects a ‘switch’ of these two October dates. As such, the new details are as follows:
Friday, October 14, 2022 (School in session)
Friday, October 21, 2022 (No School - Professional Development Day)This board approved calendar adjustment enables the district's Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) bargaining unit the opportunity to engage in their annual OAPSE Day (Central District) event on October 21 (as outlined in their negotiated agreement). The move follows similar calendar adjustments made by neighboring schools in recent weeks for the 2022-2023 school year.
In-service programming for all other, non-OAPSE staff previously planned for Friday, October 14 has been moved to Friday, October 21.
